The .CO launch is going very well. CoInternet is now reporting over 279,000 domains claimed in just 2 days. For more details on the launch, read my article on DotSauce.

There seem to be quite alot of skeptics happy to provide their commentary. On the other side of the fence, adopters are also sharing their excitement for .CO on blogs and Twitter (#dotco).

Then there are those who are opting to spend their time on research to claim the best possible domains for themselves.

Here are 10 tools and resources that should help you find quality and potentially valuable .CO domains.

WhoIs.co – See if it’s available

Google AdWords Suggestions – Invaluable keyword data

SEOMoz Term Extractor – Pulls popular keywords from any URL

Thesaurus.com – Endless possibilities

DNJournal Sales Archive – High priced .COM and other TLD sales

NameBio Sales Archive – Search previous sales

Google Insight for Search – Trends in search queries

DotSauce Q&A Forum – Stumped? Ask a question and get answers from experienced domainers

Books, Blogs, TV – Take note of buzz words and trends that may not be popular or generic

eBay, Amazon – Every product has a name

.CO Domains can be registered at GoDaddy here for $29.99 /year.

What tools are you using to research .CO domains?

The public landrush for .CO domain names is just 2 days away. The only person that’s been making money thus far (aside from the registrars) has been Andrew Allemann of Domain Name Wire.

Andrew seems to be following my affiliate marketing advice from the .ME launch and promoting the heck out of .CO with multiple articles per day.

I had plans to do this myself, but he is beating me quite well at my own game. Well played, sir.

I will still take a portion of affiliate revenue from .CO pre-registrations and .CO public landrush registrations, but have not invested nearly enough time to earn four-figures during this launch.

If you’d like to support myself and DotSauce Magazine while investing in .CO, please pre-register from GoDaddy using this link so that I will earn a modest commission. Thanks!

July was quite an eventful month for me, mainly online that is. Having invested so much time in domaining and web development I haven’t had much thrills in the world away from my monitor. Though I did find some time to glimpse some stray fireworks, see a few movies, play some Morrowind: Oblivion and wander about some local bars with friends.

I have sold numerous domain names and websites in the past few weeks. my current list of domains is outdated and I haven’t even found time to update my newer domains portfolio script. Lots of new purchases and sales, woohoo!

The website mentioned in my previous post (VidVoter.com) was the subject of my first ever fraudulent purchase from me by some chump in Australia. Lesson learned, thanks for stealing my domain and website mate! I have since also learned that PayPal provides no assistance for intangible item sales, so the risk is there each time I sell a domain–exciting.

Here is an update on my latest projects

fl*rt.com (Read: “Flirt,” A news sharing website for Women)

SurfersHQ.com (Surfer’s Headquarters, a site for sharing Surfing Videos)

VidBallot.com (Video Ballot, a site for sharing Political Videos)

PHPmod.com (Mod downloads for popular PHP scripts)

Now that wasn’t so bad and felt rather good to get some things archived in my life online. Sorry for the slow month of July, I hope to pick things up in August. I have been slacking with articles on DotSauce Domain Magazine as well, but I have managed to get a few published.
